We are pleased to announce that we have been ranked the UK’s top specialist university for the creative industries, in the Complete University Guide 2018.
Continuing our strong performance of national league table gains over the last five years, UCA has risen five places to 54th of all* UK universities.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Alan Cooke, said: “We are incredibly proud to be identified as the UK’s top specialist university for the creative industries. This ranking is testament to the access students have to specialist facilities and the calibre of technical and academic staff with excellent links into the creative industries and research in their fields."
“It also recognises the substantial investments we have made to enhance the student experience and to the commitment of our students to their academic development and achievement.”
The main Complete University Guide league table includes 129 institutions and takes into account student satisfaction; research quality; research intensity; entry standards; student: staff ratio; spending on academic services; spending on student facilities; good honours degrees; graduate prospects; and completion.
Photography graduate Becky Dann, who is now Students’ Union Campus President for Farnham, acknowledged the support in preparing for a creative career that she received when she was a student.
“While studying at UCA I was always supported and encouraged to work towards my creative career,” she said. “Course tutors and lecturers helped me to progress and encouraged me to enter photography competitions to further my career after university.
“Since I started working within the Students’ Union, staff around the University have supported me and the work I do, actively encouraging me to go out into the world and make positive changes, especially to the creative industries.”
Over the last year, UCA has noted particularly strong performances in major UK league tables. In May, the University was named in the top 40 of all UK universities in the Guardian University Guide league table. In September, it was identified as one of the country’s leading universities – and the UK’s top arts university – for teaching quality, after ranking 14th in this area in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.
