At UCA, a number of our pre-degree students take advantage of our Internal Progression Scheme (IPS), as it allows them to secure a place on one of our undergraduate courses once they’ve honed their practical and academic skills, and identified the creative subject area they love most. This Scheme takes the hassle out of applying to an undergraduate course as – providing you meet the course criteria and receive a recommendation from your pre-degree tutor – you’ll be able to progress directly to the next level of your creative educational journey with us.
To give you an insight into how the Scheme has supported our pre-degree students, we caught up with Liam Hollingham – a Graphic Design: Visual Communications student at our Canterbury campus who made use of our IPS after completing his Extended Diploma in Art & Design at our Rochester campus.
How did you find UCA’s Internal Progression Scheme (IPS)?
“UCA’s IPS is brilliant – the way the scheme is set up and the connections that were made between my foundation course and BA course are remarkable. The IPS gives you a seamless, trouble-free transition from foundation to undergraduate level study. It enabled me to focus on the work I was producing and secure the right degree course for me.”
Tell us about your experience on your current course at UCA
“My experience on my current UCA course has been outstanding. The course leader has helped us obtain opportunities to use the skills we’ve developed in the studio in the commercial graphic design world – such as internships, projects and networking partnerships.”
Tell us about your experience of studying at a creative arts university
“Studying at UCA has been a fruitful journey for me. Guidance from my tutor, technicians and practising graphic designers has really shaped me into a confident and challenging person who is full of ideas.”
Which aspect of your course do you enjoy the most and why?
“The aspect of the course I enjoy the most is the connection we have with people working in the world of graphic design. The large amount of time we’ve spent in Europe producing ideas has also been great.”
